St. Luke's Vincentians visit families in their homes, listening to their struggles and offering help at no cost to them. In addition to humble advice and prayers, we offer furniture and household items and financial assistance - within our means - to families facing eviction or utility disconnection. The families we serve live in our St. Luke parish area.
In addition to home visits, we lead several annual parish drives to collect kitchen and bedding items, and to raise funds for beds. Finally, we support the work of our fellow Vincentians at Indianapolis's St. Rita parish and at a parish in Jamaica.
We will be collecting blankets during the weekend of September 26/27. Watch the bulletin for details.

St. Rita, founded in 1919 as Indianapolis's first parish for African American Catholics, has been a "domestic twin" to St. Luke's conference for over 40 years.
St. Rita parish is located at 1733 Dr. Andrew J. Brown Avenue, in the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood on Indianapolis's near east side. Its SVdP Conference has long been active serving families within its own parish boundaries, and for over 40 years it's been a domestic twin to St. Luke's conference. That partnership has taken different forms over time — in years past, St. Luke Vincentians joined St. Rita's team on home visits directly; more recently, our support shifted to funding. St. Luke provides $4,000 a year to St. Rita's conference, paid in four quarterly installments, and gave an additional $2,000 in early 2026 that St. Rita's conference used for utility assistance to families in its parish.
St. Helen's Conference, in Linstead, Jamaica, has been our international "twin" for over 20 years, serving one of the area's highest-poverty communities.
St. Helen's Conference is located in Linstead, Jamaica, northwest of Kingston, in an area with a high poverty rate. For over twenty years, St. Luke has provided $1,200 a year to St. Helen's Conference, paid in equal quarterly installments — about 40% of their total conference budget. That support goes toward medical expenses, food, home repairs, and school tuition and supplies for families in need.
Join our Vincentians in serving our St. Luke neighbors with dignity and love.
